Winter Protection for Your Skin
17th January 2017
Winter is upon us and the snow is here! The drier and colder the air, the more moisture it sucks from your skin. Here are our top tips and products on how to keep your skin looking and feeling its best this winter.
Central Heating. On average, most households and work places have up'd their heating to anywhere between 20-23 degrees. Cosy! But what is this doing for our skin? Well, heated air inside causes low humidity which then leads to water evaporating from our skin which ultimately causes a 'dehydrated skin'. Our Hydrating range is built around Hyaluronic Acid and is designed to recharge the skin, even the most dehydrated skins quickly recover suppleness, radiance, and comfort. The Hydrating Cream is enriched with three molecular weights of Hyaluronic Acid and Shea Butter to nourish and hydrate, as well as our patented ingredient, Vectorised Micro-Collagen, to plump and firm all layers of the skin.
Temperature Changes. We have all experienced that great sense of relief after shutting the door on blistering cold winds and sitting down to relax in our toasty living rooms. But a sudden change of temperature can have its affects on your skin, such as broken capillaries, skin redness and itching. Our Calming Cream is ideal for sensitive skin types. From the moment of application, it soothes feelings of discomfort. However, a heavy duty barrier cream will work as a shield for the skin to protect from temperature change. For something a little richer, our Lipid-Replenishing Cream contains an ingredient called, Phytosqualane which forms a protective barrier and provides the skin with softness and elasticity. It protects, is extremely nourishing and also has intensive anti-ageing properties. Bonus!
Hot Baths & Showers. There is no better feeling than relaxing in a bath full of steamy water after a cold day. Did you know that hot water can not only damage the skins complexion but it will also strip the natural oils we hold in our skin? We should all avoid hot baths, especially in the winter and instead opt for a luke-warm to warm bath but shower if possible! The Regenerating Collagen Gel smooths, plumps, hydrates, firms and repairs the skin. It can be used as a serum before your treatment cream, a gel moisturiser, a sleep mask or an after-sun mask.
Ultra-Violet Rays. Yes. That's correct. An SPF is just as essential in the winter as it is in the summer. Whilst dry skin is cracked and sore, it is then more vulnerable and prone to sun damage. The Anti-Ageing Protective Care SPF30 PA+++ is a sun cream for the face that delivers triple protection against UVA and UVB, whilst fighting premature skin ageing and pigmentation, and protecting the skin against environmental pollution.
Water. If you've heard it once, then you've heard it a million times. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER. Our bodies are made up of around 60% water. Whilst its' cold and dull outside and we have a tendency to clutch a hot cup of tea, it's vital that we are still having our average 2 or more litres of water per day. Also baring in mind that if the weather is cold and the skin is dry and sore, avoid harsh peels, clay masks and alcohol-based products. Our Toning Mist is alcohol free. It completes the cleansing procedure whilst preserving the skin's youthfulness. Anti-ageing and hydrating active ingredients leave the skin soft, moisturised and luminous and is suitable for all skin types.
We are baring all of these in mind this winter to keep our skin on top form!
